DC FACES Working Group

Good morning neighbors,

Mayor Bowser has charged the District of Columbia Facilities and Commemorative Expressions (DCFACES) Working Group with evaluating the names of DC Government owned facilities, and making recommendations as to what, if any, actions should be taken to change facility and entity names.

If a person the facility or entity is named after is inconsistent with our DC values, and has in some way encouraged the oppression of communities of color or contributed to the long history of systemic racism, this working group will seek to rectify that.

Focus Areas

  • DC Government-owned streets

  • DC Government-owned buildings (libraries, schools, rec centers, etc.)

  • DC Government-owned parks

  • Statues in DC Government-owned parks

  • Other named public spaces

The DCFACES Working Group wants to hear from you. Click the button below to complete a short survey and let us know of any District assets that you'd like the group to consider. Help create change now by making your voice heard!

Interested in weighing in? Click HERE to complete the survey by Monday, August 24th.
