Good News for Fort Slocum...Coming Soon!!!!

March 28, 2023 Ms. Tiffani N. Johnson 5806 3rd Place NW Washington, DC 20011-2107

Dear Ms. Tiffani N. Johnson,

Please review the following final response I received on your behalf from National Park Service. I hope you find the information provided helpful. "Thank you for sharing the requests made by your constituent, Tiffani Johnson, regarding Fort Slocum Park. Ms. Johnson identified a number of issues, many of which will be addressed by the National Park Service in a significant rehabilitation project planned for 2025 through 2026. Plans include repairing and improving the picnic areas, a major renovation of the picnic shelter, and installation of a comfort station, water fountain, cooking grill, and ash can. The walkway to the shelter and comfort station will be upgraded to meet Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards. In addition, while the National Park Service has no current plans to install a playground, we are pleased to report that park signage is currently being upgraded, and regular lawn mowing and trash pickup have been secured. If Ms. Johnson has further questions, she is welcome to contact Brian Joyner, Deputy Superintendent of Rock Creek Park, at brian_joyner@nps.gov." If you have any follow-up questions or concerns, please contact my staffer, Stephanie Bueno, at Stephanie.Bueno@mail.house.gov in my Mail District Office.

If I may be of assistance on any other matter that falls within my federal legislative and administrative jurisdiction, please do not hesitate to get in touch with my Main District Office via email at Norton.Casework@mail.house.gov or via phone at (202) 408-9041.

I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.
