In addition to Mayor Muriel Bowser activating the District’s Heat Emergency Plan for today (Saturday, July 17), the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of the region including DC. The heat advisory is in effect today from noon until 8 p.m. for heat index values of 105-107 degrees.
