Invasive Plant Removal - Saturday @ Fort Slocum

Updated: Feb 22, 2023

Dear Rock Creek Steward,

Thank you for volunteering your time tomorrow, Saturday, February 25th to help Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service restore Rock Creek and its parklands.

We will be focusing our efforts on invasive plants from one of our mini-oases, Fort Slocum Park! Invasive plants compete with native species for resources and can prevent new native plants from establishing and thriving.

Thank you for tackling this invasive removal with us!

Volunteer Form:

Please complete the following forms before your service:

NPS 301b Adult Group Agreement - FOR ADULTS 18 AND OVER - please fill and sign.

NPS 301a Minor Agreement - FOR MINORS ONLY - parents/guardians please fill and sign for your minor.

Ways to Complete:

1. Print, sign, and bring to the vent

Event Information:

Please plan to arrive at Fort Slocum Park at 10 am on Saturday, February 25th. The picnic shelter is located in the open, grassy area just off of Kansas Ave NW. Please dress appropriately for the work and weather - long sleeves, pants, and sturdy close-toed shoes. To protect from possible poison ivy exposure, full coverage (long pants and long sleeves) is highly recommended.
