Friday, January 29, 2021

(Washington, DC) – Today, DC Health and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) announced that beginning Monday, February 1 at noon, individuals who work in person for a licensed child care provider or an independent school that is located in the District will be eligible to book a vaccination appointment with One Medical. Earlier this week, OSSE contacted licensed child care providers and independent school leaders to begin collecting contact information for in-person staff. This contact information will be used to send an email to eligible employees with instructions for making an appointment. Appointments will open on Monday and begin on Tuesday, February 2. During the first week, approximately 1,400 appointments will be made available; then, going forward, approximately 900 appointments will be made available each week.

Vaccinations for DC Public Schools (DCPS) and DC public charter school staff began this week. To date, approximately 1,130 DCPS teachers and staff have received the vaccine through a partnership with Children’s National, and 802 charter school teachers and staff have received the vaccine through a partnership with One Medical.

The following populations are already receiving the vaccine in Washington, DC: individuals who work in health care settings; members of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department; residents of long-term and intermediate care facilities and residents of community residential facilities/group homes; DC residents who are 65 years old and older; individuals experiencing homelessness; members of the Metropolitan Police Department and personnel responsible for Continuity of District Government; and teachers and staff who are, or will be, working in person at a traditional or public charter school. This week, DC Health also began on-site vaccinations at two DC Housing Authority senior properties as part of the senior vaccination initiative. Also in the initial stages of rollout are vaccinations for Department of Corrections employees and residents.
