Mennonite Pastoral Home on Peabody Street NW - Update

Writer's picture: Tiffani JohnsonTiffani Johnson

I have been informed by the owner and DCRA that construction is commencing on the pastoral home in the 200 Block of Peabody Street NW. DCRA has issued permits for:

223 - 245 PEABODY ST NW, WASHINGTON, DC 20011 THE PROJECT INVOLVES THE RENOVATION AND EXPANSION OF A DETACHED TWO STORY + CELLAR SINGLE-FAMILY HOME. THE SCOPE OF WORK INCLUDES UNDERPINNING OF CELLAR FOUNDATIONS, CONSTRUCTION OF A THIRD STORY, REAR YARD AND FRONT YARD ADDITIONS, CONSTRUCTION OF AN ACCESSORY GARAGE IN THE REAR YARD, REPLACEMENT OF HVAC, PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, AS WELL AS INTERIOR LAYOUT CHANGES WITH REQUISITE POWER AND LIGHTING MODIFICATIONS.

The fencing around the church, which remains vacant, was put up by the owners, Bogdan Builders, following some illegal dumping on the premises, which I am working with DPW to remove.

Bogdan Builders is still negotiating the sale of the church and nothing is concrete at this time. They stay in regular communication with me so as soon as they inform me of any new developments, I will let the community know.
