National Park Service Mowing & Signage

Writer's picture: Tiffani JohnsonTiffani Johnson

I have received a lot of emails regarding the lack of mowed grass on National Park Service (NPS) grounds, specifically the small circle parks between 3rd and 4th Street NW. I have been advised that the mowing contract was wared late but they anticipate it will commence at the of this week.

NPS is also working on additional signage to remind residents to leash their dogs when on NPS grounds. In the interim, if you see a dog off leash on NPS groups, I have been advised to contact the United States Park Police (USPP) at 202.610.7500.

I would like to ask that before calling the police you kindly remind residents of the leash laws in DC as an alternative to calling the police.
