News from 4B06

Good morning, Although there was low attendance, the first virtual SMD meeting for 4B06 went well. Thank you for those in attendance. While the majority of city workers are working remotely, essential services such as trash/recycling collections are still occurring, albeit, at a somewhat slower pace. If your trash or recycling is missed, please report it via 311 or you can enter a request via my SMD website, https://www.commissionerjohnson4b06.com/constituent-concerns This is also a great time to look at your trash cans and if needed, request for repairs or order new ones. For more information, please visit, https://dpw.dc.gov/service/trash-container-repair-and-purchase Currently during the pandemic, bulk trash will not be collected. In addition, household hazardous waste and e-recyling in not occurring either. For more information regarding what services are deemed essential, please visit https://coronavirus.dc.gov/ Prior to the pandemic, the SMD had submitted myriad traffic study requests. While some traffic calming measures were already installed, many remain in limbo. I have been advised by DDOT that they are working as best they can, within the confines of the Mayor's orders to complete the studies and begin work. I will continue to follow-up with Ms. Molina and provide an update. As of Friday, May 8th, the District has had 203 new positive COVID-19 cases bringing the total to 6,102. To date, DC has lost 311 COVID-19 related deaths. That is why it is so important to stay at home as much as possible and wear masks and practice social distancing if you must go out for essential items. The next WebEx SMD meeting is June 1, 2020 at 6:30pm. I will enter an event on Nextdoor and Facebook later today. Please be safe, stay healthy and stay home.
