Save the Date: Sign Up for DC DPW's Curbside Composting Pilot Program!
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to announce the much-anticipated Curbside Composting Pilot Program launching this Summer!
The pilot program will provide free weekly curbside food waste collection to 12,000 single-family DPW-serviced households in the District of Columbia for one year.
Beginning this Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9 am, interested households can sign up to participate in the pilot program by visiting, https://zerowaste.dc.gov/curbsidecomposting.
We encourage you to act quickly, as DPW will only be selecting the first 1,500 eligible single-family households that sign up within each of the city's eight wards.
Please note that only single-family households which receive DPW trash and recycling collection services are eligible to participate in the Curbside Composting Pilot Program.
Once selected, participating households will receive a starter-kit, to include a curbside collection bin, a kitchen compost caddy, composting bin liners, and educational materials.
The Curbside Composting Pilot Program is an important step in reaching the District’s zero waste goals. The District will use this pilot program to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of providing curbside compost collection services to all DPW-serviced single-family households. We hope you'll join us in this exciting new initiative!
Attached you will find a flyer and FAQ document to share with your network.
