Volunteer Opportunities for Fort Slocum Park

Please join Rock Creek Conservancy for our virtual 2021 Stream Team Leader Training or our virtual Adopt a Stream Training.

Stream Team Leaders are dedicated volunteers who work with the Conservancy as stewardship ambassadors to their communities. Stream Team Leaders may host their own litter cleanups*, encourage neighbors to take stewardship actions within their communities and throughout the Rock Creek watershed, and conduct outreach about watershed stewardship.

This training also prepares you to be a site leader for our upcoming Extreme Cleanup event!

Stream Team Leader training opportunities:

· Two-part training - Wednesday, February 3 from 5pm to 6:30pm AND Saturday, February 6 from 10am to 12pm

· Two-part training - Tuesday, February 23 from 5pm to 6:30pm AND Thursday, February 25 from 5pm to 6:30pm

· Two-part training - Tuesday, March 9 from 5pm to 6:30pm AND Thursday, March 11 from 5pm to 6:30pm

Each training is divided into two sessions—please attend both sessions! You will only be considered a certified Stream Team Leader after attending both training sessions.

Adopt-a-Stream is a community science program that is co-hosted by Rock Creek Conservancy and the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Participants lead data collection and trash cleanups twice a year. This trash-focused data monitoring and collection provides valuable baseline and comparative pollution information that can contribute to public policy and education.

Register for our next Adopt-A-Stream virtual training:

Saturday Feb. 27th, 10:30 - 12 PM

Please share this training invitation with family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and more!

Have questions? Please contact volunteer@rockcreekconservancy.org

*Trash cleanups happen in socially-distant fashion during the stay-at-home period related to COVID-19.
