Hello Adopt a Block groups,
Please see the recording of February’s Adopt a Block Meeting here. Director Julia Irving from the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS) discussed how staff connect residents with city services and work to build relationships between communities and the government. There are two community outreach specialists per ward, and you can find their contact information on their website. The MOCRS office works as an advocate to keep the District clean, safe and healthy.
There are two Budget Engagement Forums next week. The Budge Engagement Forum is an opportunity to learn how the District’s budget is formed. Register online to voice your opinion and suggestions.
We are looking for volunteers to maintain our pet waste bag boxes, and we are especially looking for volunteers in Ward 7 and Ward 8. Please find our locations here and let us know if you are interested in volunteering. Volunteers agree to stock the bags weekly and provide reports for one year.
The Mayor’s Annual Spring Cleanup will be March 20th. We are asking individuals and groups throughout the District to host a small cleanups and report how much you pick up. This would be a great day to host an Adopt a Block cleanup!
As always, we hope you are staying safe and healthy during the public health emergency. Updates on vaccines and coronavirus response can be found at coronavirus.dc.gov.
Have a good weekend,
Lorena Kowalewski
