Scam Alert

Yesterday I received a telephone call from Washington Gas. The call came from a 202-area code. It was a recorded message saying my gas was going to be turned off. It asked me to enter my home number which I did, and it then stated the homeowner's name, mine and my now-deceased grandmother. It then stated I owed $24 and if not paid immediately by gas would be disconnected.


Since I pay my bill well in advance of the due date and always over the amount due, I knew this was a scam.


PLEASE BE AWARE OF SCAMS SUCH AS THIS. I have verified with Washington Gas that you will always receive a shut off notice, in the mail, with a bill, prior to any gas being disconnected.
