Snow Emergency And Vaccination Updates from Ward 4 Councilmember Lewis George

I'm sharing snow emergency updates and resources from Councilmember Lewis George:

  • Our constituent services line is 202-724-8052 if we can provide assistance. The Councilmember and our constituent services team are out shoveling, monitoring the roads, and helping any way they can.

  • DCPS is all virtual today and meal sites are closed

  • DC COVID testing centers are closed today

  • Vaccine sites are mostly open but United Medical Center, Howard, and potentially other sites closed and are rescheduling appointments. If you have a vaccine appointment today check your email or call the vaccine site or the DC COVID Call Center (855-363-0333) to make sure they're open. Driving and walking conditions today are poor, so if you don't have a safe way to get to your vaccine site please consider rescheduling your appointment (especially if it's a first dose).

  • Trash collection is still on as scheduled with the one-day slide from Monday's holiday, but it's common for there to be delays during inclement weather so please be patient.

  • Remember to salt and clear your sidewalks

  • Help out your less mobile neighbors by clearing their sidewalks and entryways too

  • Drive very cautiously and leave plenty of space for other cars

  • DPR reservations and services (except for vaccinations) are cancelled until at least 1pm today

  • Avoid parking on DC snow emergency routes. You could be ticketed or towed!

  • The shelter hotline for our unhoused neighbors is 202-399-7093 or 311

  • Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for more frequent updates and sign up for our weekly Newsletter.

We also wanted to share some important vaccine updates:

  • We responded to the long lines and other issues at the Lamond Recreation Center vaccine site on Tuesday. Since yesterday the situation has greatly improved, and we will keep monitoring things there today and the rest of the week. Let us know if you encounter any problems. Thank you to everyone who responded on Tuesday and to the health care workers there as well as the DPR, Safeway, and DC Health staff working hard to vaccinate our residents.

  • Today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) vaccine sign-ups through vaccinate.dc.gov or 855-363-0333 will be at 6pm instead of 9am to accommodate. The schedule will revert to 9am next week, then back to 6pm the following week to accommodate peoples' varying work schedules.

  • Starting today frontline workers at grocery stores, manufacturing, food packaging, health and human services, and social services outreach are eligible to sign up for vaccine appointments on Thursdays/Fridays through the online portal or call center. Not sure if that includes you? (1) ask your employer, (2) if you work from home assume you're not eligible yet.

  • There are not specific dates for when new priority groups can sign up for appointments, but the indications are that new priority groups will be added in early March with those with chronic medical conditions likely to gain access.

  • The priority zip codes for today (Thursday sign ups) include: 20422, 20011, 20017, 20018, 20002, 20001, 20019, 20020, 20032, 20593

Thanks to everyone who is doing their part to help. Don't forget to call our Constituent Services line at 202-724-8052 if you need anything.
