Pastor Gerald Elston Appointment Announcement

Hello, my name is Vanessa Robertson and I and Angela Pooler, serve as chairpersons of the staff parish relations committees at Brightwood Park and Albright Memorial United Methodist Churches. The staff parish relations committee is responsible for personnel concerns within the congregation.

We share with you today that Bishop LaTrelle Miller Easterling has appointed our pastor, Gerald Elston, Sr. as the new pastor for Good Hope Union United Methodist Church which is located in Silver Spring. For Brightwood Park and Albright, it has been a blessing to have Pastor Elston serve as our pastor for all of these wonderful years. We have many precious memories of times spent together in ministry with him. It has been a rich season and we have been a blessing to each other. During his tenure we have become skilled servant workers moving rhythmically together making disciples for Jesus Christ and creating a place called “home” for those in need. Home is where the heart is and a part of our heart will be with Pastor Gerald wherever he goes.

As a United Methodist Church, we are part of an appointment system. The Bishop, District Superintendent, Rev. Gerard “Gerry” Green and the Cabinet will engage in prayerful conversation about a new appointment for Albright Memorial and Brightwood Park United Methodist Churches.

Pastor Elston’s new appointment will be effective July 1, 2021. His last Sunday at Albright Memorial and Brightwood Park will be June 13, 2021.

The Lord has given Brightwood Park UMC and Albright Memorial UMC a wonderful pastor who works hard to serve our congregations and their communities well. In that regard, SPRC is planning an event in which we will be able to share our precious memories of ministry with Pastor Elston.

He deserves our support. Please attend if you are able.
